Outdoor Recreation

Travel eastward and discover a very different side of Oregon; one with clear air, vast landscape, folded hills and mountains, evergreen forests, pristine rivers, and an unconstrained spirit. There are many national forests, bodies of water, and wilderness areas waiting to be explored.

Hiking
There is no shortage of areas great for hiking in Eastern Oregon, from the Columbia Plateau to Cottonwood Canyon State park, the Crooked River Country, Bend Area, Ochoco Mountains, Central Blue Mountains, and everywhere in between. Hikes range between easy, moderate, and difficult terrain, and all boast amazing landscape views that are worth it once you get to the peak.
Hot Springs
Go for some scenic soaking in one of the many hot springs nestled around Eastern Oregon. The less-famous hot springs located in this area provide solitude and incredible beauty, reminding us how diverse the landscape of Oregon can be, and how refreshing it can be to get off the well-trodden path. Venture over to Snively Hot Springs, Echo Rock Hot Springs, Hart Mountain Hot Springs, Barnes Warm Springs, and more.
Boating
One of the things you’ll come to know about Oregon is Oregonians love to get out on the water. Boaters, kayakers, and canoeists will find vast uncrowded waterways to row through, including the marshlands around Owyhee Reservoir, and Lake Owyhee State Park, the latter being well known to locals and travelers new to Oregon alike. Tucked away in the Wallowa Mountains is Wallowa Lake, a crystal clear lake also perfect for anglers and bird watching.
