Danielle Bechtel employee testimonial/interview.
January 31, 2023
Danielle Bechtel is a Dual Diagnosis Clinician and Clinical Supervisor who oversees several programs and services at the Center for Human Development (CHD) in La Grande. She has worked at CHD for 7 years.
As a Dual Diagnosis Clinician, she works with clients experiencing mental health and substance use issues. As a Clinical Supervisor, she works with clinicians and new clinicians to make sure the best care is provided to all clients.
Danielle first started with CHD as an intern in 1997 while she was an undergraduate at Eastern Oregon University. After working for the State of Oregon, she returned to CHD for her Master’s level internship and practicum. She has been a full-time CHD employee since 2015.
What is it that makes you stay with CHD?
Danielle: “I like the environment, I love the people I work with and the people I work for.”
“Most of our clients are very appreciative; they come here and enjoy the services they receive and how we help connect them with services from our community partners. We will actually go with them to those appointments and assist them as needed. We become like a second family to them. The small-town environment of Eastern Oregon contributes to that relationship.”
What do you look forward to most when coming to work?
Danielle: “I love being a Clinical Supervisor, I love helping my co-workers and I really love helping my clients. I like that I have the ability to structure my schedule around my clients and be client-centered.”
Through Danielle’s experiences she understands the challenges facing new clinicians and has helped design and implement improvements to our processes. She also works with practicums and enjoy being a guide to help them flourish and be successful in this field.
Danielle’s certifications include: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III (CADC III), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Mental Health Investigator and Examiner.
